Welcome to Train Your Deaf Dog!

This website is dedicated to training deaf dogs or more specifically, helping you to train your deaf dog. As with all of dog training, there’s plenty of misinformation about deaf dog training too. Outdated ideas and methods. Assumptions about training tools. Myths about deaf dog behavior and ability. All still out there.

My mission, as always, is to help bring clarity to the confusion lots of people have about living with and training deaf dogs AND resolving serious and even long standing behavior issues.

Having helped a handful of guardians of deaf dogs train their puppies and dogs BEFORE bringing home my deaf rescue puppy positioned me to develop another specialty in the saturated dog training market in Boston. I bring to the table more than two decades of full-time work with over twenty thousand dogs and owners coming through my group classes, dog behavior education seminars, private lessons and dog behavior consultations throughout eastern Massachusetts. You can learn more about my business here.

To date I’ve worked directly with several dozen born deaf puppies and dogs; gone deaf dogs; born blind and gone blind dogs and seven deaf-blind dogs. I have the answers to your questions and the know how you need.

Who am I and why might you want my help? I’m Vera Wilkinson. I live in the Greater Boston Area with my family which includes my now 8 year old deaf dog, Hawk. As a longtime professional dog trainer and behavior consultant, I help people with their everyday dog training needs and in resolving serious behavioral problems. I’m now well into my third decade in the business of dog training and passed my tenth anniversary as a certified dog behavior consultant.

If you or someone you know needs help with their deaf or blind or deaf-blind puppy or adult dog, please let them know about me.

I’m here to help!

Vera
