I think I’ve seen but not answered this question on Quora. I’m asked this question practically every time I tell someone that my dog is deaf. When talking with a friend about putting this website together over the weekend, he asked, “How many deaf dogs are there? Enough to make a website worthwhile?”

It’s a little like this – you notice cars of the same make and model car you drive or want to own because it’s something that’s already gotten your attention or curiosity.

I definitely am aware of many more deaf dogs now that I am at least one of the ‘go to’ people in the Boston area for training for deaf dogs. Still though, I have no idea how many deaf dogs are coming into the Boston area or Massachusetts or New England for that matter. More now than in years past though.

The awesome thing is that deaf dogs lives are being saved. The reality is that many rescuers don’t always know that the dogs are deaf. This was the case with Hawk, my deaf dog. I will share her story throughout this blog.

As to whether this website is worth the effort, my answer is anything to make the lives of dogs easier – Yes indeed!
